Kawai KS-12-XL & Kawai KS-12-Junior
Whether this or the KS-11 was the real "range topper", this one is still an excellent guitar:

Body: Solid mahogany (2 piece in my experience) with a flat top
Neck: Three-piece mahogany
PickUps: 2 humbuckers, described as "ultra humbucking" in the catalogue, and "Mighty Mite" in the ads
Controls: 2 volume & 2 tone, 3-way pickup selector switch
Other: The mini-toggle (between the 2 tone controls) coil splits the HBs, the additional switch between the 2 volume controls is an in/out phase switch.
Finish: Available in black (on the left) or natural (on the right)
The guitar used a 24 3/4" scale.
This model used a completely smooth body/neck join - it's can't be felt at all when playing on the upper frets.
The guitar jack socket is on the top of the body, as with the KS-10.
This is my original Kawai, bought back in 1980 (I think).

Here you can see the body/neck join
